Lac de Jouvignac

Post  Admin on Mon May 17, 2010 8:27 pm

A LITTLE ABOUT US AND WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR FISHERY

‘Lac de Jouvignac’ is a 9 acre lake situated in the heavily wooded countryside near Champeaux, France.
The fishery is totally enclosed and includes its own woodland, chalet, stock lake, car park and grassy surroundings.
The lake consists of level gravelled swims situated between trees and shrubs, many overhanging the water. Running down the middle of the lake is a series of tree clad islands, broken up by a series of small channels allowing the fish to move from one side of the lake to the other, whist presenting the angler with some really attractive features to fish to. Secluded and peaceful location, with the nearest road being three quarters of a mile away and no noisy, nearby rail lines. There are no close neighbours, unless you include farm animals. Safe and secure fenced in site. All snags are removed on a regular basis and we are proud to say no annoying little "Poisson chats", and very little weed. There are a few crayfish, but these are never a problem. The lake is a registered fish farm which means that French fishing licences are not required.

Clean, comfortable, well equipped accommodation with satellite TV and DVD PLAYER. The Chalet also has a good powerful shower, English toilet, fridge and freezer. Separate bait fridge and freezer. In addition to main chalet, a new shed has been put on swims 6 and 7, for the use of all anglers.

Fresh bread collected daily and your own town shopping for beer, cigarettes, food etc all done for you by Martin or Lisa on their regular trips, if you don't want to leave the bank.

We also provide a quad and trailer service to get your gear to and from your swims. Whilst it is unacceptable to leave rods unattended at night, we may be a little flexible during daylight hours but please talk to the bailiff beforehand. Other rules are mostly common sense to ensure the comfort of other anglers and to safeguard the welfare of the fish. No restrictions on your movements. You can come and go as you please.

There will NEVER be any hidden surcharges or extras added to the agreed price of your holiday. You are guaranteed a FULL weeks fishing from 2pm Saturday to 2pm Saturday. Ladies and non fishing guests are welcome, (there is plenty to see and do in the area). Also welcome are less experienced anglers and first timers in France, as the water is easy to fish and not at all intimidating.

The bailiff, a self confessed tackle and bait fanatic, will do everything possible to help and advise anyone on request. Conversely, if you want to be left entirely to your own devices, that's fine with us, although you are strongly advised to listen. There are two rowing boats one on either side of the lake for your unrestricted use and bait boats are allowed and recommended. Additionally if you don’t own a bait boat, why not rent one of ours? Please enquire when booking.

Most important are the ACTUAL stocks of fish. Prior to opening over 400 carp to upper 40's were stocked, plus the original inhabitants. We're not claiming any "mysterious lunkers" in the originals, (as we just don't know). We're not claiming vast stocks of 40's, 50's & 60's carp, but we now have more than enough to give every angler a good chance of a lump. Current records are 60lb 12oz mirror, and 44lb 12oz common. Over 80 catfish stocked, 70 of which were in the 30lb to 100lb bracket, plus 7 over 100lbs. 92 more carp introduced in January 2006. These were all in the range of 20 to 59.04 lbs. Through the earlier part of the year further carp were introduced. These were mirrors of 51, 53, 55, 56 and 57lbs, plus a common of 50.08. Early 2007, over 100 more carp from 23lbs to 63.08 stocked.

Many anglers have blasted their PB's already and huge catches are possible, already one of around 2 tons of fish to 3 anglers in a week, but being realistic, it would be far less than honest to say this happens often.

PLEASE NOTE.
Although we now have a good number of lumps, the venue should be regarded primarily as a ‘runs water’, where you will have every likelihood of catching substantial numbers of high twenties and thirties with a good chance of one or two bigger lumps. It does fortunately, seem to be acceptable to the vast majority of our clients to date, most of who have been delighted with their catches and the services and facilities we provide. Nevertheless, we still suggest that if you're looking for a venue which will produce forties, fifties and sixties all day long there are other fisheries which will probably suit you better.

We are building our business on the exceptionally high amount of service we can offer and honesty and never want to be accused of overstating the assets of the fishery. We do not cherry pick for good weeks to put on our "catch report" pages. The results of every week when anglers are on are published on the web site. We also welcome any constructive criticism, or suggestions on how we can further improve the venue or services
