getting set for winter...

Post  nickb on Sat Oct 10, 2009 8:29 pm

oh yes, rods cleaned, new line fitted, batterys changed in alarms, all rigs made up, just awaiting spring!!!!
yep, heard it already.... why is it people think winter is the time for not fishing, i've had some great times fishing the winter, the fish look great in winter too, also a winter fish is a great thing to treasure.
I think i may be in with a chance of a fish or two this winter as well, but time will tell.
anyone else looking forward to some winter fishing??? Cool

Winter carping,Noddys beware lol

Post  Wrongenuk on Mon Oct 12, 2009 4:55 pm

Im always on the rods no matter what time or day or month or year or bloody season...
Oh and i forgot what weather lol..

To be honest Nick ive caught some of my best fish during the winter.i started this year with a 25lb 6oz lin Mirror on the Jan 25th 09 and is and was a stunner...
But hey i love the fact that no ones around and i get the whole water to myself, then its soon comes round to take the piss time when all the fair weather boys as they start to turn up the first weekend with warm sunshine lmao...

And ive heard some top excuses for not fishing the colder months..
Ive even converted an long term angler into winter fishing and his attitude until he caught was" stuff that its too cold and i wont catch"

Now his moto is"winter carping piece of piss lol"

Winter Fishing

Post  Admin on Thu Oct 22, 2009 5:47 pm

I love fishing in the winter as well. I cant understand why everyone stops? The cold is not an excuse if you get some decent clothing.

My favourite months to fish are in the winter as that when the fish truly look their best !

Bring it on! Winters aren't half as bad as they used to be, in my neck of the woods, anyway. I love having the water all to myself, and a hard won winter fish, gives you a real buzz. I won't be giving up my regular night and day session, each week, just because of the weather! Unless it freezes over, of course - then its down to the river for some chubbing, I guess.

Well I have to get out soon, just checked the bait freezer, and its got waaaay to much bait in it, there is a few waters within a couple of hours from me which are still fishable, plus I've got all this new winter gear to try out, just need the knee to heal a little so I can drive.. Wink

I cant see why more people dont go fishing in winter, the carp in my lake feed like pigs all winter with the feed I give them, Mine you saying that I went fishing there the other day for 5 hours in the freezing cold and didnt get a touch, I should stop feeding them until they learn whos in charge!!

Good to hear that so many of us like winter fishing, mine you it would be nice if one of us could catch a fish!!!! I cant get out now to have another go as snowed in 8/9" of snow here. I would of loved to get that picture of a large carp in the snow just cant get to lake.
