Wanting to be caught?

Post  Admin on Wed Aug 05, 2009 12:41 pm

A bit of a strange subject I know but a lot of internet sites and news stories about Benson the Carp and his death are suggesting that Benson and other carp make a decision to be caught. They are suggesting that because of his age and the number of times he had been caught he knew what would happen if it went for a bait with a hook

Do you think any carp is actually capable of deciding if it wants to eat the bait and be caught at a certain time?

Wanting to be caught

Post  Admin on Wed Aug 05, 2009 12:50 pm

I'm not saying I agree but Im just throwing it out for discussion.

However most anglers would agree that some fish are clever enough to recognise a hook/hair rig/line/certain bait etc so where would it stop?

If a carp can decide or by instinct choose not to take a bait then whats to stop it deciding to take a bait that has the above that it recognises?

Or is everytime we catch a carp down to tricking it or outwitting it?
