Rig greater than the hair rig invention?

Post  craftycarper on Fri May 15, 2009 8:44 am

Do you think the hair rig will ever be improved upon as a rig? By this I dont mean new variations of the hair rig but do you think anything will be invented as revoluntionary and different as the hair rig was at the time it was invented?

Or maybe it exists now and we dont know about it ! scratch

It's difficult to imagine anything that could be quite so radical as the Hair-Rig. It totally changed the way we fish - not only for carp, of course - and although there have been thousands of variations on it, nothing has bettered it. OK, so today's rigs bear little resemblance to the original hair-rig, but they still use the bait-off-the-hook system, which is essentially what the hair is, of course. I think there will be lots of other weird and wonderful rigs and methods, designed to improve our catch rates, by fooling the fish, but I can't see any of them employing a method that does not include the Hair-Rig.
BUT, who would have thought you could ever improve on Mitchell 300's or Abu 55's or Tri-cast rods. Technology has moved forward so fast in the last 50yrs, that maybe something will come about, that we cannot even imagine, right now.

probably not, carping is a fasion now and most have just jumped on the scaley bandwagon, theres not to many thinkers in angling, more those that copy from someone else/mags and those that do have the ability to think for themselves tend to keep it to there chest....fair play i say
