Old Skool Carp Gear

Post  craftycarper on Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:08 pm

Has anyone got any pics of their old skool carp fishing gear? e.g optonics, monkey climbers etc?

Would be good to see how things have changed!

Old Skook Carp Gear - Optonics

Post  Admin on Tue Apr 28, 2009 3:55 pm

This was the first Optonic I owned. Cost £30.00 when I got it from a tackle dealer in Stanstead Abbots.

It was a good alarm for its day and worked with a roller wheel which is pretty simialr to how the fox microns still work.

Only control on it was on/off lol!

Hi all, newbie here

Spotted this thread straight away as I do some fishing with proper old school gear when I get chance to fish any history water. By "history" I tend to mean any water that came to prominance prior to the 70s so I fish with gear from the 50s and 60s and likewise methods and baits of the same era.

yep spot on!...

My alarms were black boxes fag packet size-ish that had a yellow or orange needle on to wrap the line around and youd have a line bite and the buzzer wouldn't shut up! (Sleep to affraid )... not great buy but cheap if i remember?
They had a V shape for the rod to sit on one side..
