Re: catch reports

Post  gary sheridan on Sun May 10, 2009 7:44 am

Shocked the catfish coming to the end of there spawn. unlike a lot of people where they have been catching smaller male catfish we have been in the right location Yet Again. fish to 184.00lbs madarin catfish of 135.00lbs carp to just under 40lbs have all been caught this week two anglers have hauled there best ever catch on any holiday they have been on. some parts of the ebro have been desolate of fish
chiprana is still not as good as its been use to
caspe top lake has realy slowed down with fellow guides off there day after day and a few calls have confirmed its slow in the depr water regions. carp are showing in most places they have finished spawning but i am sure they will spawn again soon as they tend to at least 6 times a year.
if your coming to the ebro and need some information then dont hesitate to ask me what you like. i would like to help.

biggest fish today 179.00lbs carp to 35lbs althought the carp are spawning . they are still taking a few along the ebro all the way down to caspe top lake which is the area the least amount of catfish are coming from.
nothing from down mequinenza as of yet still slow but a few more fish are showing a superb 98 kilo fish was landed zander have slowed down now with the odd fish showing trolling best advice as they move off into deeper water. the art of vertical jigging also comes into its own for those that present a jelly bait perfectly.

the swim you fished Ron has great potential . down river from there i will start a new campaign for this coming year . Steve dunnet i told you to stay in the car. next time i will tell the doctor to give you double the amount of pills . yawn yawn that's one post it must have taken you all day to write that dumpy. isn't it a real shame its like kids throwing little pebbles at ya then running of to there mums. so back to the more important thing the fishing. its now febuary as you can obviously see form the post dates.so the season is now beginning to liven up a god head of carp have shown Paul booth went down to the upper reaches had commons to 40+ with Barry and Tracey they all had carp. Alan who works for martin has been out and had a few fish myself well i have had a bad time with the dam flu its a near killer shame Steve hasn't got it . serious folks its been a mare for a lot of people but my therapy has been to recuperate with a good clean out of the garage / tackle den. with a good selection of new baits to try for the coming year. hopefully will be posting some big old moggies . along with some more of those 50+ and who knows those monsters we seen on the top and very unfortunately lost . maybe those big old girls will show. keep the Spanish site alive with positive feedback. cough

Ron hope all goes well for you in France and Spain . there have been reports of another 50+ common from a mate of mine just waiting to see the pictures . he fished with one of the new gel baits that i gave him to try . the catfish will be on form if the water tempos stay as they are and hopefully continue to rise( mother nature) . better catches should be every week from now onwards . i would expect to hear about some big catfish if not from myself then from other good guides .

Re: catch reports

Post  gary sheridan on Sat May 07, 2011 7:41 pm

with this year being one of the weirdest years as far as the river is concerned. it really has learnt me a lot of new things. places to fish and never to trust what you expect from this river shes big and old . and never the same. the river Ebro seen floods in march prior to that warm weather in febuary seen those who were fishing catching lots of carp and catfish not really the norm but it has happened then what we normally expect for march and April for the big girls to come out with some good carp to 50+ well the floods came and put pay to that . April seen the river up then down back up and so on and on. then the fish started to spawn with a very long period of time with the river temps putting the fish off then back on the spawn extending this time of spawning over a very long period. Carp have now finished there spawn, and the catfish are back on with 27 catfish over the last two days its a good sign, nothing huge so far apart from the 173.00 and a few more ton ups not really the norm but its getting back on form. cant wait for the big carp to start showing soon . you gotta be in it to win it
