catch reports

Post  gary sheridan on Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:28 pm

Hi all just a quick one here for now .
Ebro fishing very bad at the moment for catfish with the flooding conditions. this looks set to be around for another few days. carp are having it big time with fish well over 40lbs coming out to pellets and bolies T1 bait. the smaller lake of caspe11 is still producing pike to smaller sizes one of 19lbs came out last week but no sign of the biger fish . trout further up and perch are going mad.
carp are still showing but starting to spawn should slow down soon when they are in full spawn. further down the river ebrop towards riba roja its been terrible with most people fishing caspe region. looks set to be the same all year. the delat is now in full swing water flowing down produces good catfish until this snow melt stops there wont be the big bags of 1000lbs a day showing just yet.
further down in spain tajo river is producing fish in the slower moving sections carp to 30+ los lagunas and the surounding area are always croping up with some big fish and pet staggs has all the knowledge down there to make your eyse pop out. comizo barbel to 30+ with an exception to the bigger fish everbodys knows and prays for the elusive 40+ barbel. carp to 50+ on the ebro are everybody favouites and have been landed catfish to200+ are the monster fish so what ever you want i hope i can help.

If you are coming to spain and want to find out some more information on where to go what to bring and what you should bring with you to most of the venues i would love to help. I hope this helps for now.

hi ron . i reckon your on about the swim further up . its such a lovely area . i dragged out a lot of the tress there with the help of the farmer . they were all dead trees no live trees were harmed. he cut them up for firewood in the wharehouse behind. when we had the 201.00lbs top lake record catfish from there ron who has now moved on so has chris and paul and barry i think they all have al gone now but anyways. when we were there. ron had a lovely 184.00lbs just aftyer landing that he came to me and said for sure gary your 200lber and this one he had just landed there is bigger fish there . he was buzzing. so we were ron. its a lovely place . found that off my own back a long time ago and seen a few anglers fishing there then after a while got to find out who they were. ron gary chris. good lñads chat to them now a lot they give me some good info and tell me a lot of great news as well ron.
We try to help each other out now. its the best way forward when guiding. Surprised Very Happy Very Happy

Re: catch reports

the river system has finaly calmed down now. with the flow soemwhat slower than last ten days. carp are going mad with loads of 30+ commons the odd fully scaled and of course catfish to well over 120.00lbs thinking of making it this year a 120.00 + plus club instead of the 100lbs club. anyways,
lake caspe or caspe 11...is now producing lots of bigger perch to 3lbs pike to low doubles trout on the upper regions and carp and zander plus black bass still feeding well.
further down spain reports have come back to me with another 60+ carp from the lagoons and barbel to 30+ tajo fishing well but still running slightly faster than normal. should slow down soon .
sea fishing is picking up for those intrested with the dolphins showing of the delta region, the big palometas are never far behind. skate (stingrays)to 50+ have show up and bass all over the place from 1lb to 12lbs dorados and sea bream gilt head and normal bream are showing up n big numbers.
thats all for now folks.

the carp scene is superb mate. just one example is a team from eastren europe came out to fish with me they had 7000lbs of carp in five days . On top of that there catfish and zander were also very impresive.
carp to 50lbs have been landed just down from my house loads of 30+ and 40+ carp which now seem to be an easier target than ever before.
once you set your stall up . you will find the catfish will eventaly move in and take over not always but a lot of the time.
Especialy when on pellets. good luck mate if your in caspe give us a bell and will have a chat and a few beers. Very Happy

catches from this week include catfish to 170.00lbs carp to 42lbs now landed today and for some reason those zander are going mad not big fish but lots of them. all taken on small bleak as bait. caspe 2 or civan embalse is still producing pike and black bass also trout further up above alcaniz, they are now becoming much harder to find as the days get longer, pike are still feeding sea reports are the same with the bigger tyams or blue fish showing up later this month or into may. you can then expect to catch some serviola or jacks to 30 or 40lbs
there is alos another report of angler lossing another sturgeon late last year how true this i am not sure bit they stil do go past the delat region mnore of them tend to head towards the camarge delta in france .
will keep you posted when i am have time. busy busy busy.

now bwefore you view this huge catfish please do not think that because it was strung that it was harmed . no harm came to thid fish no redding of the mouth or damage in anyway was done to this super specimen. we take great care with our fish. but for the shear fact this fish was so big only two people there and the person with me his wife did not want to touch the fish . so lifting it after landing neraly 4000lbs of catfish alone that one day. was to much. the steep bank slippy mud and kanckerd guide could not get this off the ground. please enjoy the video and the imprsive catfish . Remember it was part of a huge haul of fish. carp to 42lbs were also landed the same day.

Re: catch reports

Post  gary sheridan on Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:54 pm

was there ron . never seen them but i am sure you know what your on about but still what a lovely fish tight lines ron.
I am sure people dont want to see anything like that here ron . dont you agree.
Enjoy the video no fish were harmed and all fish returned alive and well.
As you can see the fish does have a string thought the fishes mouth many guides have used this practicebefore
you can also see the knees of both myself and the angler who captured the superb catfish .
Supporting the fish so necesary, strain is added to the catfish if you do not support the fish of this size when out of water..
which helps when you capture so many big catfish
The video is clipped and water was layed over the fish throughout the videoing this is good practice .
As with carp you should always keep a bucket full of water always near to you fortunatly his good lady agreed to wet us both at the same time. so thanks for that maria
