Pete, I have never fished it mate, some advice if you want it, if not close the page now mate.

Google your lake get as much info there as you can, maps, what bait ect, if you can find a map online that has been drawn by a regular there that's always a serious bonus.
Find out the lake bottom, just ask the office or bailif then make your rigs to suit that,
Start your session with simple baiting and increas or decrease if nescessary.
Look at the weather for the days you are away and try to remember it, pick your swim by noise, wind angle and sun.

There are simple new lake rules mate, when you speak to other fishermen there take what ever they say with a slight pinch of salt Wink

mate i use ti fish in the carvan site there as a kid we use to hop over the fence then croiss the fields for crucian carp. the lads have told me there are some good carp in the new lake. but its early days yet . i am sure it will be ok mate its in a good location that field i use to bail hay with a farmer there mate . oh the good old days . when you could fish and have no hassle. boy i yearn for those days again. little crucian carp roach and a few gudgeon. lol! i am sure the lake is going to be a good one i think the pig farmer owns it there use to be a small pond there from layton instute angling club.

Post  peterpikefishers on Wed Jun 10, 2009 9:15 pm

i fished peg 15 on the mill lake peg was dry i setup at 7.30 on the 23rd
no problems apart from only 1 fish on my last morning 3.00 am but that's the way of it sometimes
especially when one guy set up next peg and 10 Min's later he gets a 16lb common he was only there for a 12 hour sesh,
so his total was 1 fish and 1 duckling (unharmed) .

i heard there where booking problems on the lodge pegs over booked or something!!

the cafe was neat and tidy the food hot and not too expensive the staff where very helpful, even came round to chat & see if you required any grub/tea or coffee
showers/toilets very warm & Clean
1 or 2 rats about i didn't get bothered by them my Snoring very loud & put my rubbish bag about 10 feet behind my bivvy.

quite a few fish caught over the 3 days/nights i was there ,i am taking the wife and kids for a short break to the caravan park over the road at the end of this month so i will try and put in a 12 hour sesh with my son .

tight lines everyone.

Very nice fish did you see the guy on the Match pond playing a carp for about 1 hour
it was hilarious the guy crossed about 8 pegs to try to land the Monster Rolling Eyes he said it was too big for the scoop net , Laughing
the bloke that tried to net it for him told me that he kept on back winding every time it was close to the net ,
needless to say he lost it there where about 4 guys who where on the lodge watching what was going on most of them where rolling about on the floor after he lost it ,he had 7 good fish on and landed 2 with the help of other folk
the monster was apparently 8 to 10 Lbs not the 20 to 25 Lbs he said .
pmsl when i heard that the guy who was trying to net it said he should take up golf and sell his fishing tackle. Twisted Evil
