cold weather baits

Post  cyprinid 74 on Fri Feb 12, 2010 11:24 pm

Hi all,
Just a quickie,
For this time of year i would turn to either a nut style boilie (i know its no envogue but it works) or i would use a birdfood/ milk protien bait, but make sure they have NO fish meals in as the oil content and protien.

The baits i will always turn to would have this in, and will not let you down.
Carp cannot process food in the way they do in the summer and this can have a serious effect on the fish (As i teach fishery management and fish biology i may be more lucky than others to understand this)
The fish need easily digestible in cooler temps, and as there digestive tract will break down milks easy this time of year i would go for them.
Bait i would reccomend would be;
Heathrow Bait services Nut mix or the new Supa cd
Dynamite baits Tiger nut or the new Mango one
or your prefered manufacturers milk mix.
But if you carry it on through the summer it will give you a huge edge over the anglers using fishmeals, it does take a while to get the fish on it in summer but by mid summer your outfishing the rest!?!?
Good luck and Happy Angling
